This header is an incredible value for those that don't have the money for a hand made A-1 Exhaust! Not as many options as the A-1 version, but look at the value!

Remember that Exhaust Tubing is measured on the OUTSIDE (Not Inside), stock is 1 1/4". A decent guideline is to run 1 3/8" for up to 90hp, 1 1/2" from 90-140hp, and 1 5/8" from 140-200hp. The Cylinder 1 and 3 J-pipes are INCLUDED with this header.

This Baja Header has been made for a long time, it's inexpensive and works well! You can choose from several mufflers and stingers to finish out your exhaust system, so you have enough (but not too much) exhaust noise!

You can't see it in the picture, but the preheat flanges ARE THERE for your center mount intake manifold too!

They also keep the thermostat warm so the thermostat is reading a true hot air exhaust temperature, rather than being cooled by rushing air as you go down the road, which closes the flaps because the thermostat thinks the engine is "too cold".

We cannot stress the importance of these 3 pieces of cooling tin, even if you do not have a thermostat and flaps.

Industrial Cooling Tins, For Heater Box Removal on 1958-74 Upright Engines, PAIR are used when you use J-pipes to replace the stock heater boxes. These fill the gaps that show up when you took the heater boxes off! These are critical for proper cooling, and are used along with the lower sled tins.

This part does NOT come with any exhaust flange gaskets, you will need 2 good ones to make sure it doesn't leak! If it leaks, you'll get "False Lean" readings on your O2 Gauge!

Price is for 4 flanges.

Simply cut off the flare on the muffler or header, then slip these on during assembly. Weld or braze one flange to the heater box or j-pipe, and the other to the muffler or header. Now you have a leak-free connection!

Permatex Ultra Copper RTV Sealant (Silicone), 3oz Tube is an excellent sealant for cylinder bases, and cylinder shims. Wipe on a thin coat, let it skin up then install the parts. Also great for valve cover gaskets, oil strainer and generator stand gaskets, etc. Permatex makes several different formulations of RTV, we only carry 2 of them because these 2 cover all applications that we need for our Vintage VWs.
