Quick Seat Piston Ring Assembly Lubricant, by Total Seal, 2 Grams is a dry Piston Ring Powder that aids in piston ring sealing and break in. This product is designed to be brushed into your cylinder walls (by hand, rub it in) during final assembly, and it fills the hone grooves during ring break in. This promotes quicker ring seating, longer ring life, and better leak-downs. It's cheap, and it works! 2g Tub. This compound is NOT abrasive, it is a substance that smoothes out the cylinder walls for an immediate ring-seal to promote proper ring break-in.After honing and final cleaning of the cylinders, wipe the cylinderwalls with a lint-free rag using a lacquer thinner or brake cleaner. Then wipe the cylinders with a light penetrating oi, and wipe them dry with a clean rag (to ensure the crosshatch is clean). Apply the Quick Seat with your finger to the entire cylinder. If the cylinder wall was clean the powder will turn the cylinder a greenish tint. If the powder turns the cylinder a black or silverish color, the crosshatch was still dirty, and you need to reclean the cylinders and re-apply.

Also great for valve cover gaskets, oil strainer and generator stand gaskets, etc. Permatex makes several different formulations of RTV, we only carry 2 of them because these 2 cover all applications that we need for our Vintage VWs. The COPPER is the best for high heat applications, like exhaust systems. If you don't want to use a gasket (or can't get one fast enough), just wipe a skim coat of the Copper on, and let it skin up, then assemble the parts. It will also seal up some unevenness in the flanges, or other situations that can create exhaust leaks.
The GRAY is the most oil resistant of the Permatex RTV Line. So it's best used for any area that will get exposed to engine oil or grease. Cylinder bases, oil pump base gaskets, oil strainer gaskets, valve cover gaskets, generator stand gaskets, etc.
Both are a must to have in the toolbox!

Distributor Points and Input Shaft Bearing Grease, 3oz, 22058 is a great high temp grease to use on the distributor cam lobes, where the rubbing block of the points rubs against. This location is often dry, resulting in "squeaky" points operation.
This high temperature grease won't fly out onto your points like Vaseline, or other greases! STICKY to stay on the distributor shaft and centrifugal advance mechanism.
This is also EXCELLENT for the needle bearings for your transmission input shaft, it's usually inside the engine's gland nut. You should put some of this on the point lobe every 3k miles. This is also GREAT for input shaft and throw out bearings (inside the gland nut or flywheel), since it won't get hot and then fly out onto your clutch! Also used for generator or alternator bearings. This is a must for your garage.

Curil-T2 Engine Sealant, 70ml Tube

CURIL-T2 by Elring, is the finest sealant we have found for case halfs. It NEVER hardens, so if you ever have to take it apart and reassemble, cleanup is as easy as a little alcohol or mineral spirits! We use it for case halves, generator stands, and oil pumps. It is also excellent for the cylinder head washers in the valve cover area. The "T2" sealant has replaced both of Elring's former sealant products: "Curil T" and "Curil-K2".
