This windage tray slips into the VW engine case during assembly, fitting immediately beneath the camshaft. It prevents oil from leaving the sump upwards. It can also prevent oil from draining TO the sump. As with all parts, YOU ARE THE MECHANIC IN CHARGE, so you need to make sure it fits properly during installation!
