This disc weighs This disc weighs between 840-900grams (can vary a bit by batch). We've sold hundreds of these with minimal problems (usually caused by overheating from bad clutch adjustment). The copper backing plate absorbs heat, and the asbestos type soft lining recovers when you abuse it! Engagement is exceptionally smooth, and this disc will last for years. You can NOT use this on Cast Flywheels, only Chrome Vanadium Steel (OEM German), or Chromoly flywheels.
History: At the time of this product's development, all the available clutch discs either slipped too much, which wore out or tore up your pressure plate and/or flywheel, or didn't slip enough and you started grenading transmissions.
You can imagine the abuse forklift clutches take, so this took from their applications, creating a disc that "recovered" even when abused.
Massive grip, but you can ease it in for "normal" driving. This disc is a must have for performance applications. Even stock type engines benefit from this clutch disc! Slips just a little bit to keep from breaking parts (or your passenger's neck), but then grabs HARD!
These are .330" thick, which is the proper thickness for VW and Porsche pressure plates (If you measure, you'll find some discs are "too thin", and this results in lower holding power. This is also why the flywheel dimensions are critical (pressure plate height).
