Weber 48 IDA Velocity Stack Air Filters (Uni-Filters) 5" x 3 1/4"(OD), Pair (Does One Carburetor) are a nice filter compromise for engines that do not have room for full pleated gauze K&N Style Filters.

IDA's are HUGE, and the intakes are tall, and in confined engine spaces this is your only option. Sand Rails usually do not have a space restriction due to not even having an engine compartment, but folks with a real car do! The puny stack screens are so restrictive you really can't run the engine with them on, they are pretty much "show only". However, we have been using and selling these for over 15 years, and they do work pretty well. For a REAL street car you should have a filter on there, to prevent bugs, grass clippings, or pieces of dirt, gravel, or even fan belt from entering the velocity stack and doing some harm.

These foam filters simply slip over your velocity stack and tighten the clamp at the filter base. There is a spring inside to prevent collapse, or the filter "sucking in". Oil the foam and put them on! They are flexible, so will accommodate minor interference with other components.

These are slightly restrictive compared to no filter, so be aware you may have to go down "5" on your main jet, from optimal "no filter" jetting. But this is certainly better than not running one at all! One pair of these will do one carburetor, you need (2) TWO to do a pair of dual carbs.
