OUR ONLINE CHECKOUT is CLOSED and we are NOT accepting any NEW orders at this time.

We are still fulfilling and shipping previously submitted and/or delayed order requests (as product availability allows) UNTIL NOVEMBER 15th 2022.

But after November 15th, all still pending backordered unshipped items will be automatically CANCELLED **(except for any special ordered drop-shipped or made/machined-to-order items).

Our ability to respond to emails is greatly hampered by being under-staffed during this downsize transition time. But we continue to endeavor to answer email inquiries as best we can. And we will continue responding to emails through until early March 2023 because we are wholly committed to resolving any other issues that may arise from previous sales. It is still UNCERTAIN, but we may re-open a substantially downsized version of our store again in the Spring of 2023.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding during this period of restructuring and/or closing. And a huge thank you to all of you whose support and loyalty we have been the beneficiary of over the 23 years that we have worked diligently to support the information and parts needs of the aircooled VW community!

VDO 600F Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Gauge, Cockpit, Black Face, 2 1/16", V310901

VDO 600F Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Gauge, Cockpit, Black Face, 2 1/16", V310901

VDO 600F Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Gauge, Cockpit, Black Face, 2 1/16", V310901 is used to monitor the critical Cylinder Head Temperature on the Aircooled VW Engine. We feel critical temperatures are 425F when the thermocouple is mounted under a spark plug. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT GAUGE YOU CAN HAVE ON YOUR VW! This gauge kit comes WITH the wiring harness, and the sending unit, you do not have to purchase these separately unless you want to have spares!

Some other guys get nervous around 400F, and we can't say this is wrong. Busses tend to run much hotter temps due to the load they are pushing. These gauges are best used as a REFERENCE, get used to them, and if you see it "too high" one day FIGURE OUT WHY!

Gauge importance (to US), in order, Cylinder Head Temperature, Oil Temperature, Voltmeter (charging system problems or broken fan belt), Oil Pressure.

These gauges are temporarily unavailable, but they are due to be back in production some time in 2016! So be sure to add yourself to the backorder list, and we'll notify you once they are back in stock!

5 of 5 Mine reads true August 22, 2017
Reviewer: Cikan Vuz from Winchester, CA United States
Slowly but as should heats up to 250 and never goes over 280 in city stop and go driving.  Installed in a 1970 Bay Bus/Camper with a 1776.   I had to use the calculator to figure the temps, since no temps marked except 100, 350 and 600, but that is fine with me as I do not mind using my brain now and then.  ;)  Happy with item.

3 of 5 Temperatures don't seem to be accurate September 3, 2015
Reviewer: Andrig Miller from Louisville, CO United States
I have two measurements of CHT, this gauge and its thermocouple under the spark plug, and the sender that is screwed into the CH that reports temps to the ECU of the CB Performance fuel injection system.  What I have noticed is the gauge reads as high as 400 degrees when the engine isn't even under load (running in the driveway), and its gets there very quickly.  At the same time, the ECU is reporting temps of just a tad over 200 degrees, which makes more sense, based on the facts that the engine is not under load, and the oil temperatures are well below the limits.  I believe that the thermocouple is reacting to the spark plug as much as the CHT itself, and that's what leads to the high readings.  Based on my finding, I wouldn't worry about CHT's, based on the thermocouple under the spark plug until it goes well over 500 degrees.

I haven't tried it, but if the thermocouple was placed under a head stud washer, it would probably read much more accurately, but its just a guess.
