We STRONGLY recommend that you use an electric or "ALTERNATOR" mechanical fuel pump, the "Generator" mechanical fuel pumps are taller, and sometimes hold the intake up, causing the electric choke on the carb to contact the fan shroud. The use of an electric pump, or the shorter "Alternator" fuel pumps, prevent this issue.

This is the finest Deluxe Center Mount Progressive (DFAV/DFEV) Carburetor Kit available for your Volkswagen. Preheat is key in making your center mount work well, even if it's 120F out! Intake manifold with DELUXE PREHEAT, and a nice linkage arrangement that prevents throttle cable binding, by lining up the linkage to the cable in the shroud!

We have a LOT of experience setting up Center mount Webers (25+ years!), so we offer and strongly recommend our Carburetor Setup Service to you when you buy your carburetors from Aircooled.Net! Frankly, if you try to bolt up your Center Mount Weber kit as supplied by Weber, you will have problems more often than not!

So choosing the Carburetor Setup Service is completely optional and up to you, but STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. It's actually a bit of a pain, and time consuming to do properly, which is why ACN is the only company that offers this service on Weber purchases! The Carburetor Setup Service includes fixing known and unknown problems and Weber assembly errors, clean, set floats, trim gaskets, etc. Then we reassemble with the correct jets and emulsion tubes for your engine and elevation! Finish it off with a final bench adjustment so that your setup time and headaches are minimized! Carburetor Setup Service INCLUDES JET CHANGES (Free jets!), the expense of the proper jets can exceed what we charge for the setup, so it's a great deal for you!

It doesn't matter WHICH dual Weber kit you buy from us, Progressive, ICTs, IDFs, IDAs, we will give them the same attention to your carburetors as if they were ours about to go on our own engine! When you select this option, Jet changes are included. With the cost of jets and especially emulsion tubes, that alone makes it worth it!

We have the carburetor expertise to select your emulsion tubes, idle jets, main jets, and air jets, regardless of the elevation you will be driving at, all you will have to do is assemble, adjust and GO! Obviously you must have your fuel pressure set to 3-3.5psi, but if the engine is in good mechanical shape your bench time will turn into driving time!

Although many say the progressive is poor, this kit eliminates all issues. I have heard such as lack of pre heat (a stock or modified aftermarket exhaust greatly helps this as well) and the throttle linkage is very smooth and not holding the cable at absurd angles like cheaper kits. Great kit and will be used on an 1835. Also the customer support on this site is second to none. Great job everyone at

I'm mechanically inclined, but an idiot when it comes to too many specifics.  I paid the extra money to have ACN tune the carb.  Well worth it!!  After several months, i was able to crank it over.  Fired up like a dream - right out of the box.  I'm sure i'll have a little fine tuning to do, but it was a relief to have it take off.  I also purchased a rotary electric fuel pump from ACN.  Works great.

Excellent Carb and Manifold Setup September 6, 2015

i added this kit to my new stock 1600 DP setup. I used ACNs carb jetting service. This saved me unknown hours of tinkering to dial this setup in. Out of the box, the DFEV was set up perfectly. I only had to adjust for lean best idle and idle speed. I opted for a stock German muffler to provide ample carb heat, and the ACN SDVA distributor to round out the install. The first mileage run resulted in 24mpg and smooth-as-silk performance from idle to freeway speeds. Thank you , ACN!

Good overall Carb Setup December 12, 2014

I've used this Carb years ago, but that was twenty plus years ago.  As the other reviewer said the instructions are difficult for the Back yard Mechanic.  Go with Air-cooled net suggestion and pay for the Carb setup with free jets well worth the extra coin to avoid the problem with set up later.  But with that said once dialed in well worth it.  Power + reasonable MPG.  I've now run this carb on a 1641 & 1776 with great results.

Replaced my EMPI POS with this manifold and first off the quality of the manifold is good and the throttle linkage is of a superior design than other progressive manifolds. The cons to this kit is, First there are no instructions whatsoever and for a VW pro this would be no problem but for someone new to VW's it might be frustrating. Second altough the throttle setup is nice but its kinda fiddley and could benifit from some redesign or at least a material upgrade of its components. Overall I am happy with this manifold and do recommend it for others.
