Engine Cases: We offer these kits with OEM VW Magnesium Engine Cases, or Aluminum ones. Aluminum is less prone to damage and fatigue, but weigh 25lbs more, and run 10-15F hotter oil temps, than magnesium cases.
SCAT's kit comes with the Crank and Alternator/Generator Pulleys, Idler Bracket, High Quality Idler Bearing and Idler Adjuster, and all hardware. When you choose your color, it will affect the crank pulley and alternator/generator pulley.
Serpentive belts do not slip nor flip, they are more efficient than V-belts. However, because they do not slip we do NOT recommend that you use a Serpentine belt if your engine's RPMs exceed 6000, it over-speeds the fan, since it doesn't slip like a V-belt does. This exposes the fan to more RPMs and they often blow-up. So a Serpentine belt system is GREAT for Cruisers (especially busses) that tend to run hot, you get maximum cooling airflow with a Serpentine Belt System.
These rockers come with high quality (not Chinese junk) swivel foot adjusters, and are ready to bolt on! This set has the adjuster at the valve end.
SCAT has changed the valve adjusting screws from the old 8mm threads to a 3/8" thread, which is a much stronger screw. 8mm Adjusting Screws DO NOT FIT these arms.
This shifter has been around for over 20 years, it's precise and works very well. In fact this shifter has the tightest shift pattern of any shifter we sell, and we STRONGLY recommend you replace your shift rod bushing, and your shift coupler, since this shifter does not tolerate "sloppy" shift linkage.
Reverse is engaged by pulling up on the forward "T", instead of pushing a Thumb Button in, or awkwardly depressing the entire shifter downwards. This prevents accidental shifts into reverse when you are trying to get 2nd gear!
