SCAT Volksracer Crankshaft, 4340 Forged Chromoly, 82mm Stroke, Chevy Rod Journals, 101404-1 is the finest crankshaft you can get for your VW engine without paying over $1k for a SCAT Pro COMP or Moldex crankshaft! These are superb cranks for picky builders! The 82mm Crank is used as the basis for the stroker big bore engine sizes of 1995cc (88mm bore), 2110cc (90.5mm bore), 2180cc (92mm bore), and 2275cc (94mm Bore). This crankshaft is best used with "B" pistons and 5.325 or 5.4" rods for minimal deck height headaches. The 82mm stroke crankshaft is the most commonly used "Big Stroker" crankshaft.

On the surface it doesn't make sense to spend this much money for a crankshaft, when you can get a "Top quality chinese" one for $300. We'll tell you why! We know guys that have been running these crankshafts HARD for over 20 years, which blows away some guys new to the hobby that are used to Chinese Quality where cranks are throwaways after 5 years.

Nitriding is an expensive process where the crankshaft is exposed to gas under heat and pressure, this creates a really hard journal. We have had engine "disasters" where we lost a bearing and the engine siezed, and after disassembly and checking, the crank was fine! It creates a REALLY hard bearing surface, that simply does not wear and it's really tough!
