These reinforce the body when the roof is "gone", to prevent chassis sag. The rails prevent the body from buckling when there is no roof to take the stress.

Welding is REQUIRED to install these.

This part requires body jigging (to prevent flexing and warping) and welding to install. You have to hold the body in place when you cut the old one out, so you don't weld the new one into a warped body that won't bolt up to your chassis!

When these are "non-functioning" you will know by doors that do not hang or close properly, the jamb gets tight at the top as the chassis droops.
