OUR ONLINE CHECKOUT is CLOSED and we are NOT accepting any NEW orders at this time.

We are still fulfilling and shipping previously submitted and/or delayed order requests (as product availability allows) UNTIL NOVEMBER 15th 2022.

But after November 15th, all still pending backordered unshipped items will be automatically CANCELLED **(except for any special ordered drop-shipped or made/machined-to-order items).

Our ability to respond to emails is greatly hampered by being under-staffed during this downsize transition time. But we continue to endeavor to answer email inquiries as best we can. And we will continue responding to emails through until early March 2023 because we are wholly committed to resolving any other issues that may arise from previous sales. It is still UNCERTAIN, but we may re-open a substantially downsized version of our store again in the Spring of 2023.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding during this period of restructuring and/or closing. And a huge thank you to all of you whose support and loyalty we have been the beneficiary of over the 23 years that we have worked diligently to support the information and parts needs of the aircooled VW community!

Aircooled.Net SVDA Distributor

Aircooled.Net SVDA Distributor
Product photo shows SVDA with Pertronix UPGRADE Installed. Base price SVDA comes with Cap, Rotor, Points, and Condenser, but NOT the O-ring nor the vacuum hose.

We are having to face a sad reality regarding our previously well-received Aircooled.Net SVDA Distributors. We don't currently have any, and unfortunately, it is very possible that we will not be able to find any more of the Bosch distributor cores that we have used in the past to modify for use in specific carb applications. When VW of Mexico stopped manufacture of the old style Beetles, Bosch discontinued their manufacture of this compatible distributor. We have since been buying up any/all stock we could find, but our sources have been mostly depleted and we have been unable to procure more for approx the past 6 months.

We are now instead recommending the next best alternative which is the Pertronix brand 12 Volt SVDA. We've been selling these now for close to two years with good results and no major quality issues.

Aircooled.Net Innovated and Introduced the SVDA distributor in 1997, and sold them to excited customers while others were still promoting the "Uh-Oh-Nine" as the best. We have more experience with SVDA distributors on VW Engines than anyone in the World! Product Picture shows ACN SVDA with optional Points Replacement Device installed.

The Aircooled.Net (ACN) SVDA Distributor, or the Mallory Unilite, are our recommended distributors for VW engines. The ACN SVDA is our flagship product! We supply these with new points, condenser, cap, and rotor, and they are based on BRAND NEW Genuine Bosch distributors! This is a New OEM VW Distributor, we are NOT using Chinese Manufactured copies!

The combination of centrifugal and vacuum advance give the smoothest performance, a 3-4mpg improvement in your fuel economy on the highway, and a major drop in engine temps on the highway too!

Because we introduced this distributor, we coined the term "SVDA" in the mid/late 1990s to try to describe it. SVDA stands for "Single Vacuum Dual Advance" (since it has BOTH vacuum and centrifugal advance, that's where the "Dual Advance" comes from). The ACN SVDA uses the same cap and rotor as the 009, so you may even have some tune up parts lying around!

Starting with a brand new unit, we then re-curve them to OUR SPECS, depending on what induction you are using. We feel the ACN SVDA is the finest "stock type" distributor available for your aircooled engine. We shake our heads at how many other shops and repair garages are still promoting the 009 (We call it the "Uh-Oh-Nine"). We feel the only nice thing about the 009 is it's inexpensive and simple, so it's nice to "keep around" in case you have a distributor problem of some sort.

It's important to note that a Pertronix or Compufire for a 009 or 050 will NOT fit the SVDA, but a Pertronix or Compufire for an SVDA will fit the 009.

SVDA comes with points, cap, rotor, and condenser, but does NOT include the distributor o-ring nor vacuum hose. We recommend you reset the points if you are not installing a points replacement device.

We have had repeated inquiries about SVDAs for 30 PICT 1 and 30 PICT 2 carbs. There is NO SVDA compatible with the 30-1 or 30-2 carbs, so your options are to either put a stock distributor on, use a 009 (yuck), or put an SVDA on in conjunction with a Single Port compatible 30/31 carburetor, since we have an SVDA for the 30/31.

Item Features

We shake our heads at how many other shops and repair garages are still promoting the 009 (We call it the "Uh-Oh-Nine"). We feel the only nice thing about the 009 is it's inexpensive and simple, so it's nice to "keep around" in case you have a distributor problem of some sort. We developed and began promoting the SVDA over a decade ago due to our own tuning problems with centrifugal only distributors. At that time we were ridiculed for "selling something that isn't needed", yet fast forward to today and these same "critics" have jumped on the "Vacuum Advance Bandwagon" and now are telling everyone of the benefits of vacuum advance in order to sell you their version (which is usually NOT an OEM VW unit!) We have more experience and have helped more people get the best out of their SVDAs than any of our competitors. We are the experts on tuning and setting up the SVDA. Our included installation instructions point out several mistakes that the "other guys" overlook.

Check out this Customer Quote: "You should sub-head the SVDA distributor as "aka New-Bug-In-A-Box". I took about 15 minutes to yank my old 009 and put in the SVDA. Wow! What a difference. Quick cold starts, less throttle needed to get anywhere, and much smoother running throughout the RPM range. Too soon to know what the mileage gains are - but I'm sure I'll see improvements there too. (But you already knew this would happen - you said it already in your product info!) Overall - I am exceedingly pleased. This item in its first drive already far surpassed what I thought it would do for my Bug."

5 of 5 Great product, great service March 17, 2013
Reviewer: Jon from Portland, OR United States
True plug and play item that worked great on my 1600 SP engine with a Brosol 30/31.  John added fantastic customer service answering questions, as always.  Too bad these are hard to get now since they are worth the money.  I also love that John will help set it up for another carb in the future if I choose to change things up.

5 of 5 ACN SVDA August 26, 2012
Reviewer: Gregory Rickard from El Segundo, CA United States
My '71 Ghia has a stock 1600 dp rebuild with the only mod being a Redline Weber 32/36 DFEV carb.  I switched to ACN's SVDA (with Pertronix module) from a Bosch 009, and what a huge difference.  I have spent ages screwing around with jetting trying to eliminate a persistent flat spot around 2,000 rpms, but I finally concluded it was an ignition issue rather than a carb issue.

No more flat spot at around 2,000 rpms and engine transitions throughout the whole rpm range are smooth!  The engine purrs now.

I had a little trouble dialing out an unwanted vacuum signal at idle while setting up the SVDA and contacted John for guidance.  His recommendation nailed it.  I dialed out the vacuum signal and dialed in the SVDA.  It is a nice piece of equipment and worth every penny.  Buy it, put your 009 on the shelf, and don't look back.

5 of 5 SVDA review...4 months later August 4, 2012
Reviewer: Aaron Downing from Ocean Springs, MS United States
Heres a review of the svda dizzy I purchased a few months back.  I hate reading reviews when someone just buys something, because whether or not they like it, they praise it to justify their purchase...so here's my 4 month follow up.  First off, I'd buy one again in a heartbeat, and here's why.  Super smooth acceleration, better power, much cooler temps (can actually touch the dipstick now).  But here's the kicker and what really sold me.  My MPG improved by 7...that's right, 7 mpg.  I've run through about 2000 miles up to this point since the purchase (30miles a day) as it is my daily driver and the money I've saved on gas so far will have this payed for in no time.  Long story short, best purchase I've made in a long time, and it actually does live up to the hype.  In case anyone is interested, I drive a 69 type 1 with a 1641 and a weber progressive carb.  Well done aircooled, well done.

5 of 5 ACN SVDA June 21, 2012
Reviewer: Tim Ornato from Orange Park, FL USA
Well I did my homework which lead me to the ACN SVDA.   I chose a points system to keep it simple- you know - one step at a time. This was going on a fastback so there is some adjustment,  with the condenser location, getting stuff to fit right around the cooling.   Until now I was using my original (!) FI distro (71 fastback) and I knew that was a weak link.  Like the others that have weighed in- it woke up the car- particularly  at higher rpm's !  I can't believe the difference it has made and I don't think I have it dialed in yet (I am running a stock rebuild with 34 ICT's. It does respond faster and starts faster.  Makes me think about putting the 36 DRLA's back on...I always thought I was wasting gas before on a stock engine...maybe not now! .......thank you to John for your quick response to my email and insight!

Three words about the SVDA... Wow, Wow, Wow!  A week's headache solved with your SVDA.  I was off and running in only 15 minutes using your excellent installation instructions.  Flat spot...GONE!  009...in the trash.  Thanks a million.
