SCAT 4340 5.325" H-Beam Connecting Rods, Chevy Journals, 3/8" ARP 2000 Bolts, Balanced, Set of 4, 102494-3 are the finest non-Carrillo Connecting Rods available for your VW Engine. The strength and quality of these rods are an incredible value!
The 5.325" length is the perfect size for 74mm and 76mm stroke cranks and "A" pistons, OR 84mm Cranks with "B" piston, placing the piston where you don't have to do a ton of work to get the deck height correct! It is true you can get a "nicer" rod with a Titanium Rod, or a Genuine Carrillo, but for VW specific applications, the SCAT is the best, for only $50 more than "lesser" rod choices.
The 3/8" ARP 2000 Rod Bolt is VERY strong, the strongest rod bolt that is available for our Aircooled VW Engines.
SCAT Connecting Rods are some of the finest available. The rod cap is precision dowel-pinned for alignment that will not change after disassembly. The rod cap and bearing will ALWAYS line up 100% like it did for the rod honing operation at the machine shop!
These rods are finish machined, and balanced, at the SCAT facility in California, USA! All SCAT Connecting rods feature:
Computerized machining processes which hold aerospace tolerance (EXTREMELY TIGHT!)
Center to center length +- .001"
Big and little end taper and bore sizes held to +- .0002"
Balanced overall and end for end in matched sets of 4, to +-1g.
SCAT 4340 high nickel and chrome content metalurgy ensures the highest tensile strength and fatigue strength from the multi-step heat treating process.
All SCAT rods are shot peened.
All SCAT rods are X-rayed, Sonic Tested, and Magnafluxed too!
We genuinely feel the SCAT rods are the best you can get. While other rods might be less $, if you absolutely cannot have a rod failure, getting a set of SCAT connecting rods is a must!
