SCAT Volksracer Race-Ready Engine Kit, 78.8, 82, and 84mm Stroke FORGED CW Crankshaft has put the components together in a hassle free pre-clearanced kit (machined, ready for cleaning and assembly). Includes the engine case and cylinder heads! The actual power range of the engine will depend on the cam selected, as well as having matching carburetion and exhaust.

We offer this kit with Hypereutectic (Cast) pistons, which are good to 6500 RPMs, or an upgrade option of Forged pistons for you guys that want to really pound on it!

Engine Cases: We offer these kits with OEM VW Magnesium Engine Cases, or Aluminum ones. Aluminum is less prone to damage and fatigue, but weigh 25lbs more, and run 10-15F hotter oil temps, than magnesium cases.

This kit includes a FORGED SCAT Billet Volksracer Crankshaft, Piston and Cylinder Kit, 4340 SCAT Chromoly Gland Nut and HD Washer, 4340 Forged H-beam Connecting Rods, Choice of SCAT Cam, SCAT Lightweight Lifters, D Port and Polished Cylinder Heads, 4140 Chromoly head Stud Kit, SCAT Adjustable Push Rod Tubes, Pre-Machined (Bored and Stroked) NEW OEM VW Engine Case, Universal Engine Case Hardware Kit, 40pc Engine Lock Nut Kit, Crankshaft Gear Assembly Kit, HD Chromoly Pushrods, Gasket Set, Silicone Flywheel Seal, HD Oil Pump, Main Bearings, Rod Bearings, and Cam Bearings.

An example of the product support you get from ACN is our recommendation that you choose the VW rod journal option if you use a 78.8 or 82mm stroke, but Chevy if you choose an 84mm stroke. This is because the smaller Chevy Journal Size makes for more room when using the larger 84mm crankshaft! This will save you a ton of angst and hassle.

For cam choices, we have limited the grind options to ones that are compatible with the heads that come with THIS kit. There is no point in selling you a grind that stops making power at 5k, or doesn't start until 5k, when the heads included with the kit will support NEITHER! The fee above is for LABOR service to balance a set of pistons for you. The more precisely balanced your pistons are, increases engine life. Recommended tolerance for stock engines is within 5 grams We balance to a much tighter 0.5 gram tolerance. It is not unusual for pistons out-of-the-box to be off by more than 20 grams, so even if you don't have us do the balancing for you, make sure you don't skip this key engine-building step!

It's important for you to understand that when we balance the pistons and wrist pins, they are in MATCHED PAIRS. Make sure you DO NOT SWAP PINS and PISTONS during the cleaning and assembly process! Pins are sometimes 1.5g out, and we often have a heavy pin with a light piston, and a light pin with a heavy piston. If you mix them you no longer have a balanced set!
