Besides the rules, it's safe (that's what's important, right?)! This kit is a fantastic safety upgrade for any Karmann Ghia sedan. This item does NOT FIT CONVERTIBLES.

This kit is completely bolt-in; No Welding Required! 1 3/4" Chromoly tubing, and 6 X 6" NHRA Legal steel plates mean you just drill some 3/8" holes and mount it! All necessary hardware and instructions come with the kit!


This kit is designed and manufactured by Ron Lummus, a Legend in the VW Industry (a really nice guy too!), so the quality is superb and you will not be disappointed! In our opinion there is no other way to go for an easy to install cage in your car. This kit ships DISassembled but still can only ship via TRUCK FREIGHT (within the continental USA), so there is a hefty shipping charge (sorry!).

This kit includes DRIVER side door bar, but NOT the Passenger side bar. Passenger-side Door Bar, and Traction Device Bar are kit upgrades that can be purchased separately (see related products at bottom right of this listing).

When you install this, you pretty much lose your back seat functionality (you can still use it, but it's a royal PITA), but this is required to make it NHRA legal!

If you plan to this either chromed or powder-coated, we recommend that you first install the cage, then after you are happy with it, THEN uninstall it to have the finish work done. The reinstall should then fit like a glove, and doing it this way will reduce the possibility of scratching or dinging up your eye-candy.
