Beehives Done Right Weekend Warrior Valve Spring Kit w/Chromoly Retainers, (8) Springs, (8) Retainers, and (8) Keepers combats spring harmonics via different coil diameters, instead of inner and outer spring interference! These work really well to 7500 RPMs (Actual RPM limit might be higher, depending on valves used. 40mm valves are lighter than 42 and 44mm for example). This kit offers greater performance than the Street Kit, via more RPM and more valve lift potential. This kit was developed by Dan Ruddock Performance Products.

This kit will not work with single groove valves! You must have 3 groove VW Style Valves to us this!

By using a non-interference spring (like dual springs), oil temperatures are unaffected, since the friction of the spring interference is not present!

This kit can be used on scuffer tip (Pro Series) style rocker arms with the adjuster at the push rod end, AND VW style rocker arms with the adjuster at the valve side. If you have VW style rockers, we strongly recommend 911 adjusters, swivel feet, or elephant's feet adjusters, and it's CRITICALLY important that you back-cut the valve side of the rocker arm adjuster area, to allow the new thicker adjuster to move back into the rocker arm. You MUST check that the edge of the adjuster clears the retainer, and it's only contacting the end of the valve.

WARNING: The outer spring seat in the head needs to be cut to fit the 1.310" OD spring, and on some head castings the head will have to be welded if you break through the intake port during this cutting procedure.

The Beehives Done Right Weekend Warrior Kit eliminates the need to cut (weaken) the guide boss, but it does require spring seat cutting on the OD for the 1.310" spring.

The Beehives Done Right Weekend Warrior Valve Spring Kit has a higher quality spring, with a micro-peening process which eliminates stress. This can be seen with it's unique silver finish on the spring surface.

The top half of the spring is the part of the spring which does most of the moving, is much lighter than the old dual spring setup. So not only is the retainer lighter, but the SPRING is lighter too (it's also moving mass, which the spring pressure must control).

A good set of dual springs will normally have an interference fit to keep harmonic vibrations under control. The downside to this interference (rubbing) is that the friction increases oil temperatures.
On a beehive spring, the different size coils resonate at a different frequency throughout the spring, so it's design self cancels damaging harmonics, without the power robbing and oil temperature increasing spring interference.

It's important to use the correct spring for your application. Racing applications have a lot of valve lift, so one way to get the room for this valve lift (preventing coil bind) is to wind the spring with less coils. This is not a free lunch, because the less coils the spring has, the more the coils are being twisted every compression (Imagine a spring with 2 coils, or 100 coils). This results in more metal fatigue, and it's why using "Chevy Springs" with the same free length have a much shorter life span before spring replacement is needed.

A single purpose drag car can afford the shorter life of a Chevy spring, but daily drivers cannot, since they can wear out a set of springs out before your first oil change!

This Beehives Done Right kit has a full 6 coils of spring winding, which will last far longer than any 5 coil HD dual spring on the market.

The spring seat OUTER must be cut to fit the 1.310" OD Spring. With some head castings you may have to weld the spring seat if you break through into the intake port. Be aware of this thin area!

This spring kit will lift up to .625". Installed height depends on what valve lift you are going to run.

For example,

install at 1.700" to run .525" valve lift.
install at 1.750" to run .575" valve lift, sinking the valves .060" into the seat during the valve job.
install at 1.800" to run .625" valve lift, using longer valves than standard.

Spring pressure is 365lbs open
. The reason the installed height is an abnormal 1.700" is because of the extra room afforded by the extra offset spring retainers.
