ACN Super Squish Pistons, 94mm Bore, 22mm Pin, "B" Pin Height (1.380") is the finest forged racing piston available for Aircooled VWs. The top of the piston has a 4.3cc Positive Displacement Dome which is engineered for maximum turbulence in the VW Type 1 combustion chamber! This results in a very "detonation resistant" chamber (not detonation proof, you can make them ping it's just more difficult to do). This piston uses the "B" pin height, which is best for 78-84mm stroke crankshafts.

The first generation of these pistons were developed for NASCAR in the early 80s; we simply transferred that technology to our beloved aircooled engines. Price includes (4) Pistons, (4) Wrist Pins, (8) Wrist Pin Clips, (4) Sets of Rings. CYLINDERS ARE NOT INCLUDED!

These are custom made from Wiseco piston forgings, every detail was incorporated into their design. These are 40g ligher than the forged Mahle piston. Strutted Piston Design (Slipper Skirt) means a shorter wrist pin, which is lighter and stronger than full wrap-around pistons. These pistons will live beyond 9k RPMs, other engine parts will certainly fail before these will!

Super Squishy Engines are known for their High Compression Performance, but you do not have to run high compression to achieve the benefits of the Super Squish Piston; the engine will run cooler and more efficiently compared to flat top pistons. Engines equipped with these pistons will require SIGNIFICANTLY LESS IGNITION TIMING than conventional engines, so ignition curve re-work will be needed to optimize results. Super-Squish Engines run cooler too, since combustion is so much more complete in the combustion chamber, instead of finishing in the header! Many racers have found they can "Hot Lap" in Squishy Engines that would have had a nuclear meltdown previously! Some street engines run Power Pulleys to get engine temperatures up to "Operating Temperature", but understand we ALWAYS recommend that your engine have full tin, cooling flaps, and operational thermostats!

I am running these pistons in my street bug and am very impressed.  I am running them in a 9.5:1 2276cc engine right now, it runs great on 91 octane.  The best part about the combo is that on top of the moderate compression, I'm running 24psi of boost through the motor as it is turbocharged and fuel injected!  Even at this boost level on 91 octane fuel WITHOUT water/methanol injection, the car runs cool, and is detonation free!  Try that with flat tops!
