Heavy Duty Lifter Bore Cutter Tool (Lifter Boss Cutter) Rental Fee, GB725 is used to clearance the engine case's lifter bores for lifter head clearance. Inadequate clearance is not uncommon with high lift cam shafts, you should have .040" minimum clearance at full lift! As stated in the VW factory bulletin; the cam to cam follower boss clearance is often not enough even if you are using a new stock VW cam with the factory stock cam followers, the engine case radius is often not enough with the lifter under head profile.

High lift cams will usually require additional clearancing at the cam follower bosses. This tool is designed to be used in a drill press, but it can easily be used with high quality 1/2" hand drill if you are careful. The high speed tool steel cutter is ground with special angles to cut the boss, and to contour the radius at the same time.

The first is a precise hole in the lifter head, connecting the oil pressure area in the lifter cup with the face of the lifter. EDM = Electrical Discharge Machining. This process provides more oil to the highly loaded area between the cam and lifter, which prevents metal to metal contact in this area. After the EDM process, the lifter is phospate coated. This combination reduces wear on both the lifter and camshaft, and aids in a longer life. This is a good upgrade for engines with dual valve springs.

These require less HP to drive than stock (helical) gears. You can advance or retard the cam up to 6 degrees, to really dial it in perfectly!

These gears are designed for serious engines! The crank gear has a build in "Racer Spacer" which eliminates the need for the factory spacer, or the Racer Spacer (saving you money!).

Made from ASTM-5120 steel, and then case hardened to 32 HRC, the Pro Series Gear Set is designed to handle the extreme valve spring pressures used in today's race engines. Each Pro Series Straight Cut Cam Gear Set comes with (3) grade 8 shoulder bolts, thread locker, and detailed installation instructions!

This is a common cause of the gear cracking at the key way, or the more common not known problem of elliptical crank gears, which shows as the cam gear has serious tooth wear in 2 locations 180 degrees from one another on the soft aluminum gear. Make absolutely sure that the crankshaft does not measure larger on either side next to the woodruff key AFTER the key is installed, to avoid this serious build issue!
