We cannot stress the importance of these 3 pieces of cooling tin, even if you do not have a thermostat and flaps.

If these are not there, air backs up under the engine and the fan has a harder time blowing cooling air over the cylinders and heads due to the pressure increase below.

These fit 40hp through 1600cc upright engines.

The shroud includes a "Venturi Ring" is a radiused inlet to the cooling fan, which increases fan efficiency. Tests have shown a 10% increase in air flow (cooler running!) with no other changes. The Venturi Ring was introduced on the factory shrouds in the mid 70s as emissions caused the engines to run a lot hotter, and the inclusion of this part helped combat the rising engine temperatures. more info
