OUR ONLINE CHECKOUT is CLOSED and we are NOT accepting any NEW orders at this time.

We are still fulfilling and shipping previously submitted and/or delayed order requests (as product availability allows) UNTIL NOVEMBER 15th 2022.

But after November 15th, all still pending backordered unshipped items will be automatically CANCELLED **(except for any special ordered drop-shipped or made/machined-to-order items).

Our ability to respond to emails is greatly hampered by being under-staffed during this downsize transition time. But we continue to endeavor to answer email inquiries as best we can. And we will continue responding to emails through until early March 2023 because we are wholly committed to resolving any other issues that may arise from previous sales. It is still UNCERTAIN, but we may re-open a substantially downsized version of our store again in the Spring of 2023.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding during this period of restructuring and/or closing. And a huge thank you to all of you whose support and loyalty we have been the beneficiary of over the 23 years that we have worked diligently to support the information and parts needs of the aircooled VW community!

Amsoil Synthetic Severe Gear Oil, 80W-90, QUART, AGLQT-EA
Amsoil Synthetic Severe Gear Oil, 80W-90, QUART, AGLQT-EA

Amsoil Synthetic Gear Oil, 80W-90, QUART, AGLQT-EA is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for our Vintage VWs with manual transmissions. EASY shifting when it's very cold out (you don't have to warm up first), and superior protection and easy shifting, GREAT UPGRADE! This product can ONLY ship via Ground (UPS Ground, USPS Parcel Post, etc)! This gear oil does not include the corrosive additives that GL-5 oils have (NEVER use these). We only carry the top of the line Synthetic gear lube, and this IS compatible with Limited Slip differentials! You can also use this in steering boxes!

AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube is recommended for use under various combinations of high-speed, shock loads, low speeds and high torque conditions. It is recommended for use in ALL VW applications, heavy and light duty, for standard transmissions. Though it is 80W-90, it will provide smoother cold weather shifting and performance than any conventional dino gear oil! AMSOIL Synthetic 80W-90 Gear Lube replaces all conventional 80W-90 gear oils and exceeds the lubrication and performance requirements of front and rear differentials, transfer cases, transaxles, manual transmissions, oil lubricated wheel bearings, and steering gear boxes

If you want to see just how good this oil is for your gearbox, try using the cheap stuff. I did, and it was immediately and noticeably harder to shift, and the damned thing would sometimes just refuse flat-out to change down into 2nd.
Put this stuff in, and all is cured.

GL-5 oils will destroy your transmission. Don't gamble with the stuff from the hardware store, it's almost certainly the wrong stuff for use with the synchro materials in a VW. GL-5 oils will actually corrode your synchros until one day they go on strike.

You need this oil. Buy it. Buy four, since that's how many it takes to fill an IRS transmission.
