I had a problem. John had the knowledge and the solution. Contacted Aircooled.net about a very dangerous situation that the previous owner passed onto me. I had a Not So Fine, UH OH NINE with a Brosol Solex 30/31 vacuum carburetor on a single port 1600. I emailed John and he advised me to go with this SVDA distributor.

WOW! Now I can take off like normal and the engine runs much smoother and cooler. Looking forward to working with Aircooled.Net in the future when I build the "real" engine for my beautiful Vdub.  THANK YOU SO MUCH TO JOHN AND EVERYONE AT AIRCOOLED.NET. You made driving my VW GREAT AGAIN!!

I have totally rebuilt my engine.
Fidgeting with the original 205Q and another I bought off the web was a lot of time and money wasted. I had it running pretty well with the original 205Q and a dual vacuum NOS can but when I broke down and went with this unit the 'driveability" went through the roof.  Much better starting, good warm up and smoother driving under every condition. Money well-spent. This is the way to go.

nice!!! 5 years no flat spots Avg 28 to 32 MPG  with a 130 main and 60 pilot jet stock 1600cc REG GAS still good at 144,000 miles on 4th rebuild filterpump 26mm gears, adjust valves+change oil at 2500 miles, bocar carb. Driveing air cool VW'S 50 years LOVE,LOVE,LOVE!!!

I was in a pinch and this was all I could get in a hurry and even with caveats from the Internet experts that it would not work with my stock 1967 1500 with the 30 PICT 1 it is working very well.

I had the infamous "uh oh nine" distributor with an H30/31 on my 1600 sp.  Not much to speak of for flatspot.  When I installed the baby webers, the car couldn't get out of it's own way.  The flat spot was horrible, much worse than it was with the single carb.  I picked up this SVDA, installed it and tuned by ear in less than 10 minutes and she's very much driveable again! Thanks ACN for having a great price and good product knowledge.

I have run this distributor for the last year or so with a variety of different solex carbs and clones. It works ok with stock Solex German 34-3. However, I have found that the Bocar 34-3 seems to work much better. I have the mixture screw slightly more rich at idle and have my accelerator pump 1 notch toward the negative. I can mash the pedal with no flat spot and it's smooth all the way through the rpms. Way better than China 009s and cheap import SVDAs. I'm running the "igniter" pickup also. Engine idles very stead at 900.

I'd have to speculate that the vacuum signal may be a little better from the Bocar and this helps the Pertonix have a smoother curve. Also, most of the German carbs (late ones) came from vehicles that had dual vacuum distributors and retard more at idle.  It's worth mentioning that I have excellent manifold heat and i'm running a thermostat. These factor into many folks judgement that a distributor and or carb are "bad" when really it's a heat issue.
