DEVES Piston Rings, 90mm Bore, 2mm Top, 2mm Middle, 4mm Oil, Set of 4 are the finest piston rings you can get for your VW or Porsche Engine! Painstakingly made from the highest quality Swedish Steel, Deves rings break in FAST and DO NOT LEAK! "Deves" is pronounced "Dev-ess", not "Deevz" LOL! This ring set was originally used on 90mm (NOT 90.5mm!) Japanese big bore pistons for Type 1, 2, and 3 1600cc engines. There are several versions of the 90mm piston rings, you MUST CHECK YOUR RING THICKNESSES VERY CAREFULLY!

We have been selling and using Deves rings for a long time, and feel they are BY FAR THE BEST RINGS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR AIR COOLED ENGINE! Instead of taking 500-1000 miles to break in (blow by, oil usage, overheating, etc), they are often fully broken in after 5-10 MINUTES of run-time on the engine stand or in the garage! If you have ever fought with trying to break in Mahle, Grant, or Total Seal rings, you will REALLY appreciate these, especially if you have ever had to go through the headache of an engine with rings that won't break in properly!

This is a set of 12 rings to do one 4 cylinder engine. Note these are available in Standard Bore, as well as .020" (.5mm) and .040" (1mm) over-bores!

The Material -

The finest Swedish steel is used, from the masters in advanced metallurgy, in a special composition alloy, designed for high heat transfer, high flexibility and low wear rates. These are characteristics yield performance that are unmatched by any other line of piston rings - American or Foreign!

The Design -

Deves rings and ring sets are based on detailed engineering drawings as well as actual engines. All Deves rings are checked for fit by a specially-designed light-beam microscope (if light doesn't get through, neither will oil or compression!), and they meet or exceed all SAE, DIN, and BNA standards.

The Features -

  • All Deves rings (Compression, Scraper, and Oil control) are made in the necessary lengths and widths, and in various thickness' to ensure the proper tension against the cylinder walls.Not One Size Fits None like some other brands!
  • Expander rings are slotted to prevent any possibility of clogging.
  • Oil rings consist of two laminated rings, which sit at the top and bottom of the groove, separated by a spacer, and also contact an expander ring.
  • Scraper rings use an expander ring under the scraper to provide proper tension.

The Deves line started in Sweden about 1932, and was manufactured by Bildeve i Stockholm ab - makers of precision car lifts, industrial lifts and hydraulic elevators. The line quickly established a reputation for quality and advanced design. In 1965, Janasz corporation, with an international reputation in fine steels and precision machinery, began importing the Deves line into the United States.
