OUR ONLINE CHECKOUT is CLOSED and we are NOT accepting any NEW orders at this time.

We are still fulfilling and shipping previously submitted and/or delayed order requests (as product availability allows) UNTIL NOVEMBER 15th 2022.

But after November 15th, all still pending backordered unshipped items will be automatically CANCELLED **(except for any special ordered drop-shipped or made/machined-to-order items).

Our ability to respond to emails is greatly hampered by being under-staffed during this downsize transition time. But we continue to endeavor to answer email inquiries as best we can. And we will continue responding to emails through until early March 2023 because we are wholly committed to resolving any other issues that may arise from previous sales. It is still UNCERTAIN, but we may re-open a substantially downsized version of our store again in the Spring of 2023.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding during this period of restructuring and/or closing. And a huge thank you to all of you whose support and loyalty we have been the beneficiary of over the 23 years that we have worked diligently to support the information and parts needs of the aircooled VW community!

Bug Me Video How-to DVD, Volume 2 Remove Engine, by Rick Higgins
Bug Me Video How-to DVD, Volume 2 Remove Engine, by Rick Higgins

Rick Higgins (a real VW mechanic) guides you step-by-step through the nitty gritty of working on your clutch, T/O bearing, pressure plate, flywheel seal, rear transmission mounts, and clutch cable.

These DVDs are not sealed in the package, and they are NOT RETURNABLE unless they are defective. This policy is due to dirtbags that feel it's ok to burn their own copy and then return them for credit.

If you are just getting into the VW mechanic thing, you NEED this DVD. Excellent pictures, narration, and tech. The information here is reliable and well presented, and not leading you down the wrong road! Consider the whole set!

In Volume 2 we demonstrate how to pull the motor. We start with showing where and how to lift the car and secure it on stands. Then we show in detail how to remove each necessary screw and nut to separate the motor from the car.

With the motor out and on the floor, we show ways to remove the flywheel and main seal. Next we show how to examine and replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel and how to identify all the possible types to be sure you do the job right. We also show you what necessary changes need to me made in regards to the starter and flywheel when converting your car from 6 volt to 12 volt. Then we show you how to identify and replace the clutch release bearing and the arm that controls it. We now replace the rear transmission mounts that can cause clutch and shifting problems. Then you will learn how to replace the clutch cable from start to finish. The video winds up with putting the motor back in the car while showing you each step clearly and in order.
