OUR ONLINE CHECKOUT is CLOSED and we are NOT accepting any NEW orders at this time.

We are still fulfilling and shipping previously submitted and/or delayed order requests (as product availability allows) UNTIL NOVEMBER 15th 2022.

But after November 15th, all still pending backordered unshipped items will be automatically CANCELLED **(except for any special ordered drop-shipped or made/machined-to-order items).

Our ability to respond to emails is greatly hampered by being under-staffed during this downsize transition time. But we continue to endeavor to answer email inquiries as best we can. And we will continue responding to emails through until early March 2023 because we are wholly committed to resolving any other issues that may arise from previous sales. It is still UNCERTAIN, but we may re-open a substantially downsized version of our store again in the Spring of 2023.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding during this period of restructuring and/or closing. And a huge thank you to all of you whose support and loyalty we have been the beneficiary of over the 23 years that we have worked diligently to support the information and parts needs of the aircooled VW community!

4140 Forged Chromoly Type 1 Stroker Crankshaft, 76mm Stroke, Type 1 Rod Journals, 002-4176VW

4140 Forged Chromoly Type 1 Stroker Crankshaft, 76mm Stroke, Type 1 Rod Journals, 002-4176VW is a fantastic medium stroker crankshaft for budget builders. Made from 4140 Forged Chromoly, this will rev as fast as your connecting rods and pistons will allow!

This crank is best used with 5.5" rods and "B" pistons for the same deck height as stock! This is a new crankshaft, so both Main and Rod Journals are STANDARD.

This is a new crankshaft, so both Main and Rod Journals are STANDARD.

Case Clearancing for a 76mm case is minimal, the bigger the bore the less clearancing you'll have! If you have a small bore, you may have MINOR clearancing for the rod nuts, at the cylinder spigots. 76mm needs slight clearancing worst case.
Be sure to check piston skirt to Crankshaft CW Clearance during assembly. This is usually a problem with smaller bore pistons, and with shorter than stock rods and 76mm cranks.
These cranks are a GREAT way to build an engine with more grunt ON A BUDGET!!!

Good product and it was in stock. Delivered in a well packaged box for protection. John and his team were very helpful in helping me build my 1300 with this larger crankshaft.
