We have been selling and using Deves rings for a long time, and feel they are BY FAR THE BEST RINGS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR AIR COOLED ENGINE! Instead of taking 500-1000 miles to break in (blow by, oil usage, overheating, etc), they are often fully broken in after 5-10 MINUTES of run-time on the engine stand or in the garage! If you have ever fought with trying to break in Mahle, Grant, or Total Seal rings, you will REALLY appreciate these, especially if you have ever had to go through the headache of an engine with rings that won't break in properly! This is the labor cost for us to balance a set of pistons purchased from us. We balance to a .5g tolerance, stock is 5g! We have seen pistons off by >20g out of the package, so choosing this option is wise. If they are too far out, we'll replace them.

It's important for you to know that when we balance the pistons and wrist pins, they are in MATCHED PAIRS. You must make sure you do not swap pins and pistons during the cleaning and assembly process! Pins are sometimes 1.5g out, and we often have a heavy pin with a light piston, and a light pin with a heavy piston. If you mix them you no longer have a balanced set!

Bench Model Engine Stand bolts to a workbench or table, and rotates a full 360 degrees. This bench mount engine stand is constructed of thick wall schedule 80 steel pipe. ACN Tip: You can also use this to hold your transaxle!

Note that you may have to grind the ears of the stand slightly to perfectly fit your engine case. Apparently they crack the whip on the guys making these, and they are rushing a bit.

Quick Seat Piston Ring Assembly Lubricant, by Total Seal, 2 Grams

Quick Seat Piston Ring Assembly Lubricant, by Total Seal, 2 Grams is a dry Piston Ring Powder that aids in piston ring sealing and break in. This product is designed to be brushed into your cylinder walls (by hand, rub it in) during final assembly, and it fills the hone grooves during ring break in. This promotes quicker ring seating, longer ring life, and better leak-downs. It's cheap, and it works! 2g Tub. This compound is NOT abrasive, it is a substance that smoothes out the cylinder walls for an immediate ring-seal to promote proper ring break-in.

After honing and final cleaning of the cylinders, wipe the cylinderwalls with a lint-free rag using a lacquer thinner or brake cleaner. Then wipe the cylinders with a light penetrating oi, and wipe them dry with a clean rag (to ensure the crosshatch is clean).

Apply the Quick Seat with your finger to the entire cylinder. If the cylinder wall was clean the powder will turn the cylinder a greenish tint. If the powder turns the cylinder a black or silverish color, the crosshatch was still dirty, and you need to reclean the cylinders and re-apply.

Teflon Buttons, 22mm Wrist Pins

A lot of VW enthusiasts have problems with wrist pin clips popping out, and prefer to use Teflon Buttons instead of clips (Even Spiral Locks or Tru-Arcs). We have them in several bore sizes, but they are only available in a 22mm pin size.

ONLY use these in completely round pistons! They are NOT compatible with slipper skirt pistons (flat sides on the end of the wrist pin).

DIRKO RTV Sealant (Silicone)

Dirko RTV is made in Germany, and is an excellent sealant for cylinder bases, and cylinder shims. Wipe on a thin coat, let it skin up then install the parts. Also great for Valvecover Gaskets, Oil Strainer and Generator Stand Gaskets, etc.
