NOTICE

Please read this notice and only continue if you are willing to abide by our updated backorder acquisition and fulfillment terms of service.

Supply-chain disruptions have hampered our ability to acquire/restock items reliably. Additionally, a lack of backorder ETA information is a frustrating "new normal" for our hobby. As a result, we have had to change our BACKORDER ACQUISITION TERMS OF SERVICE. If you opt to have us "send backorders later", backordered items will ship automatically if we are able to get them within 30 days. Longer than 30 day backorders WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY CANCELLED. Made-to-order, Special-Order, and Direct-shipped items may take longer than 30 days, and will NOT be auto-canceled.

On the next page, you will be prompted to select a BACKORDER HANDLING INSTRUCTION for your Order Request. In every case, you are NOT CHARGED for out-of-stock items (we ONLY charge for items that are available to be shipped in a timely or reasonably reliable timeframe). If you opt to "send backorders later" you are automatically added to the waitlist for those items, and we post stock status / backorder info to your Order Status/Progress/History Detail View in your online Customer Account. You can email to cancel un-shipped/un-paid items at any time as long as they are not direct-shipped, special order or made/machined-to-order.

Currently many shipments are delayed and our response time to emails are slow (we are severely short-staffed). Please trust that even if we can't reply to your email promptly, we are continuing to work to fulfill your Order Request as best we can, and we will contact you once we have any new information that is not already posted in your online Order Progress/History area in your customer account.

Please only continue if you are prepared to be PATIENT. Some of the items in your cart might be out-of-stock, and if that is the case, within a day or two we will post itemized stock status information to your account and/or email you to let you know. We appreciate your continued support and understanding.

Zero Offset Wide 5 Front Disc Brake Kit, 1968-69 Type 2 (Bus/Kombi), 498570
Zero Offset Wide 5 Front Disc Brake Kit, 1968-69 Type 2 (Bus/Kombi), 498570

Zero Offset Wide 5 Front Disc Brake Kit, 1968-69 Type 2 (Bus/Kombi), 498570 is a long awaited kit to upgrade the pitiful brakes on the early Type 2! The stock drum brakes are horrible even when in the best of shape, these give you massive stopping power, and of course disc brakes are self adjusting too! This kit lets you retain those Wide 5 wheels that you absolutely have to have (even if they are the stock rims), and triple your braking power with self adjusting disc brakes!

This kit also fits with the stock wheels!

THIS KIT DOES NOT WORK WITH EMPI 2.5" LOWERING SPINDLES PN: 22-2948!!

Your steering geometry and ride quality are unchanged by the installation of this kit, because you never even take the spindles off the car!

This kit is a product that a lot of folks have been hoping would be developed. This is not a "Race Quality" kit, since racers require the lightest parts possible! But if you are not a Weight Weenie, this kit may be just what you were looking for! All the disc brake kits that were economically priced in the Wide 5 pattern kick the wheels outboard, and cause tire/fender clearance issues. This kit retains the factory offset (hence the term "Zero Offset") to eliminate this issue!

This kit has made it possible to get all the superior braking advantages for your Volkswagen without the compromises. This kit is a 100% bolt-on systems that require no cutting, welding, drilling, Ghetto-rigging, or hack type engineering to make the system "work".

Offset problems have been eliminated by retaining the stock wheel offset geometry. The ease of installation of these kits is a bonus for the do-it-yourselfer and can be accomplished with standard tools in about 4 hours of work. AC Industries did their homework on this kit, much like VW did with the Beetle and Ghia design for decades, because this product looks very simple but is incredibly engineered so that it is easy to install and works very well.
