There are "nicer" rods, they are between 2-5x as expensive! If you can't afford a failure get SCAT! It is true you can get a "nicer" rod with a Titanium Rod, or a Genuine Carrillo, but for VW specific applications, the SCAT is the best.
SCAT Connecting Rods are some of the finest available. The rod cap is precision dowel-pinned for alignment that will not change after disassembly. The rod cap and bearing will ALWAYS line up 100% like it did for the rod honing operation at the machine shop!
 
These rods are finish machined, and balanced, at the SCAT facility in California, USA! All SCAT Connecting rods feature:
 
Computerized machining processes which hold aerospace tolerance (EXTREMELY TIGHT!)
 
Center to center length +- .001"
 
Big and little end taper and bore sizes held to +- .0002"
 
Balanced overall and end for end in matched sets of 4, to +-1g.
 
SCAT 4340 high nickel and chrome content metalurgy ensures the highest tensile strength and fatigue strength from the multi-step heat treating process.
 
All SCAT rods are shot peened.
 
All SCAT rods are X-rayed, Sonic Tested, and Magnafluxed too!
