Hardened Lash Caps for 8mm and 9mm Valves, Set of 8


 
These are small steel "hats" that fit on the end of the valve, and these wear out instead of your valve. A good idea if you have a bigger cam than stock, ratio rockers, OR stainless valves! These caps add around .060" to the valve height. This is a set of 8 to do one engine.

It's important to note that you use lash caps OR swivel feet/Elephant's Feet/911 Adjusters, you never use both! Lash caps are used with Scuffer Tip Rockers (rockers that have the adjusting screw on the pushrod end), or when using non-swivel type valve adjusting screws. Consider Lash Caps as replaceable items as they wear out, they are cheap.

Some people say that lash caps "must fit tight on the valve", but we disagree. It should be a snut, but not tight, fit. A little float is not going to kill you! It's not uncommon for lash caps that are "snug" to be a BEAR to get back off again, as the valve end deforms and swells inside the lash cap. This requires a special puller to remove the cap!

Snug fit, good quality, easy to install. December 26, 2012

As it says in the product description, they fit snug on my L5ACN heads. They were perfect to help make my valve geometery spot on. The only reason I didn't put 5 stars is because this was my first engine build and haven't had experience with other caps and because I hadn't measured the thickness of any of them to verify consistency.
