Aircooled.Net Dual Port Mini Stroker VW Engine Long Block, 74mm Counterweighted Crankshaft, Type 1, 2, and 3, 1800cc, 1904cc, 1968cc, or 2054cc based on a forged 74mm Counterweighted Crankshaft, and it's displacement depends on the bore size you select; 1800cc (MACHINE IN 88mm THICK WALL Bore), 1904cc (90.5mm Bore), 1968cc (92mm THICK WALL Bore), or 2054cc (94mm Bore). These engines offer a substantial increase in torque (GRUNT!) over stock stroke engines. All our Piston and Cylinder choices use the thickest cylinder walls available, we do NOT use "Slip In" piston sets under any circumstances! This is a really solid, mild performance engine that you want to build but don't have the time, knowledge, or special tools! We only offer solid lifters, we do not sell, use, nor recommend hydraulic lifters.
Anything purchased at the same time as an Aircooled.Net Long block is given a 10% discount!

This long block is a far nicer engine that the "Magazine Engines" you see for sale for seemingly incredible prices. These long blocks will fit all cars, but the are a direct bolt-in to 1971 and newer Beetles and Ghias, 1971 T-2s, and 1967 and newer T-3s. We only offer these in Dual Port, so make sure you have the correct tin and intake manifold(s).

New engines have NEW parts (obviously)! "Rebuilt" engines have a lot of used parts ("Rebuilt" is subject to a lot of interpretation, and many rebuilders sell you "Re-assembled" engines, so watch out).

  • Chromoly 8mm Head Studs
  • New Pistons, Cylinders, Rings (Balanced, of course!)
  • NEW Cylinder Heads (NOT REBUILT JUNK!), with HD Valve Springs. L3 or L5 Head upgrade optional!
  • High Quality Bolt-On Rocker Shaft Kit, to eliminate reliability hassles with stock horseshoe clips and wavy washers.
  • OEM German Valve Covers and Bails, Powder Coated Black.
  • Stainless Steel Push Rod Tubes
  • 26mm Oil Pump. Full Flow Oiling is optional (If selected, a plugged oil pump, plugged, drilled and tapped case, full flow pump cover, 1 90 degree fitting, and 2 -8 flares are included. You will still need to order Oil Fittings and Oil Hose separately.)
  • Full Engine is Micro-Balanced to a Race Specification for the smoothest running engine possible!
  • Compression set to customer's request (we can assist with this decision if needed).
We equip these engines with either Stock Dual Port heads or our L3 Ported Head, both of which are designed to work with stock sized exhaust and heater boxes, without overheating or tuning problems!
These engines are complete from valve cover to valve cover, but do NOT come with a clutch, pressure plate, fuel system, intake, cooling, ignition, or exhaust parts. The mounting stud for the thermostat is NOT INSTALLED NOR TAPPED, but the case does have the boss in place for drilling and tapping to install this stud (we recommend the functional thermostat be installed).
These have Solid Lifters and need to be adjusted just like the engine you have now (set at .006" cold).
VW Beetle and Ghia Sedans can use any of the available bore sizes, from 88 to 94mm. VW Beetle Convertibles, THINGs, Busses, and Type 3s should use the 92mm THICK WALL Bore (1968cc), 90.5mm Bore (1904cc), or MACHINE IN 88mm Thick Wall Bore (1800cc).
Warranty: These engines come with a limited 6 month/6k mile limited warranty on this long block. Long block warranty does NOT cover any third party expenses - such as installation charges - storage - towing - lodging. We have sold many long blocks since 1998, and have only had a couple problems, both of which were cleared up quickly. In the very unlikely event that you have a warranty problem - please contact us so we can resolve any problem as quickly as possible. Installation instructions are not included, since the person installing this engine will be a trained and experienced professional.

Be aware that trucking companies do NOT like driving into residential neighborhoods. We strongly suggest you have a commercial address to deliver the engine to, it will save you $100 in freight. Alternatively, you can pick up the engine at the freight terminal, but it is not uncommon for you to have to drive 50-80 miles away to get to the terminal. We are not responsible for any drive you may have to make to P/U your engine, we suggest you submit a commercial address to ship to, it makes everything easier all around.

Kit Contents:
Your ACN Longblock includes building up to and including the valve covers. If you also purchase the following items at the same time as your longblock order, then these will also be installed on your longblock for you:
a) clutch and pressure plate (both must be ordered to allow for installation)
b) distributor
c) pulley and pulley tin (both must be ordered to allow for installation)

Although you may order other items to be shipped with your longblock (which would then qualify for the 10% additional items with longblock discount), we do NOT install or assemble any other items onto a longblock for you prior to shipment for safety in transit reasons and also because we are selling you a "longblock". "Turnkey engines" (fully assembled), are available upon request, but cost quite a bit more!
